We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Research Investigator or Senior Research Investigator to work in our preclinical biology lab located in Delaware Innovation Space in Wilmington, Delaware. The individual will be part of the R&D team focused on developing novel therapeutics to combat cancer and other indications. The successful candidate will support multiple projects by developing, optimizing, and executing biochemical and cell-based assays to enable the discovery of new oncology drugs, and by applying state-of-art technologies to interrogate cancer biology and understand the mechanism of actions of novel drugs and targets.
JOB DUTIES
- Design and execute in vitro cell-based assays and in vivo mouse studies to test the efficacy, safety, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drug products.
- Support the development of new in vivo oncology mouse models by working-hands-on with lab mice, using various dosing methods (PO, IV, IP), and performing subcutaneous injections, blood sampling, organ/tissue dissection, tumor measurement by caliper, health monitoring, and clinical scoring.
- Collaborate with scientific partners across NiKang research organization.
- Coordinate work with research assistants/associates.
- Ensure compliance with biosafety regulations.
- Ensure excellent documentation of all experimental work.
- Support data analysis by preparing data in various forms (e.g. figures or data tables).
- Communicate results at internal and external meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD degree in a biological science field
- Experience in oncology preferred
- Prior experience working in a level 2 biosafety environment (cancer cell culture)
- Ability to execute cell-based assays that inform drug discovery and/or basic biology
- Ability to troubleshoot various cell-based assays and perform basic data analysis on small to medium scale datasets using standard analysis tools
- Must be self-motivated and results driven, and have a positive, can-do approach to work that is often repetitive in nature.
- Strong communication skills. This position requires significant interaction with people of varying scientific backgrounds, approaches and skill sets.
- Must have a passion for lab work, data analysis and reporting excellence is a must.
- Previous experience with mouse handling is required. Specific experience in mouse oncology models is preferred.
- Good record keeping practices for all scientific work performed.
- Proficiency using Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to effectively communicate results at internal and external meetings
- Ability to manage outsourced research
- Foreign candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) working on-site at our Wilmington, DE lab.
Other Information:
NiKang currently anticipates the annual base salary range for this Research Investigator or Senior Research Investigator is estimated to be from $85,000 to $100,000. Our job titles span more than one career level. The actual title for this role and final salary amount offered to a successful candidate may be higher or lower than the estimated range and will depend on several factors that include, but are not limited to, the geographic location of the candidate, the type and length of applicable experience, education, and other relevant factors. In addition to base salary, the hired applicant for this position will be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus and potential equity awards based on factors such as individual and organizational performance.
