We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Research Assistant/Associate to work in our preclinical biology lab located in Delaware Innovation Space in Wilmington, Delaware. The candidate will be part of the R&D team focused on developing novel therapeutics to combat cancer and other indications. The successful candidate will support NiKang’s drug development by performing hands-on work on biochemical/cell-based assays and mouse models, assessing therapeutic agents in vitro and in vivo, and maintaining detailed records of the research findings.

JOB DUTIES

  • Effectively execute all hands-on work for in vitro cell-based assays (for example, Western Blot, RT-PCR, ELISA, HTRF) to test the potency/specificity of potential drug products.
  • Perform data analyses using common software (Excel, GraphPad Prism).
  • Effectively execute all hands-on work for in vivo mouse studies to test the efficacy, safety and pharmacokinetics of drug products including:
    • Dosing animals by various routes (e.g. oral, intravenous, intraperitoneal, etc.), sometimes during weekends/holidays;
    • Monitoring animal health (measure body weight and routine observation) and maintaining detailed health records of all animals enrolled in studies;
    • Collecting blood samples, dissecting tumors and/or other organs/tissues for further analysis; and
    • Performing analyses on animal tumor readouts.
  • Ensure excellent documentation of all experimental work. Support data analysis by preparing data in various forms (e.g. figures or data tables).
  • Ensure compliance with biosafety regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in biology is required. Master’s degree in biology preferred.
  • At least 1 year lab work experience.
  • Familiarity with common molecular and cell biology techniques (cell culture, Western Blot, PCR) and animal techniques (e.g. subcutaneous/intravenous/intraperitoneal injection, blood collection, tissue collection, caliper tumor measurement).
  • Previous animal handling experience is required. Specific experience in mouse oncology models is preferred.
  • Detail oriented, with good organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other researchers and technical staff.
  • The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must not have allergies to animals.
  • Willing to work with laboratory mouse.
  • Be able to finish required regulatory and hands-on training.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week). Position is on-site in our Wilmington, DE lab.

Other Information:

NiKang currently anticipates the annual base salary range for this Research Assistant or Research Associate is estimated to be from $65,000 to $80,000. Our job titles span more than one career level. The actual title for this role and final salary amount offered to a successful candidate may be higher or lower than the estimated range and will depend on several factors that include, but are not limited to, the geographic location of the candidate, the type and length of applicable experience, education, and other relevant factors. In addition to base salary, the hired applicant for this position will be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus and potential equity awards based on factors such as individual and organizational performance.
