We are currently seeking a Vice President-level Head of Program Management to lead the planning and execution of our global oncology development programs and act as the Program Management Lead for one or more of our oncology programs. This position will play a key role in driving the success of our pipeline by ensuring effective cross-functional collaboration and program delivery.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans for global oncology development programs, aligning with the overall strategic objectives. Work with the CMO and Program Heads and coordinate with the Program Teams to articulate and evaluate strategic options.
  • Portfolio Management: Organize a portfolio level view of programs and priorities, including scenario planning, identifying timelines of key read-outs and decision points, and estimating probability of success.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the cross-functional leadership team, including Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing and Clinical Development and with Project Heads to ensure seamless execution of global development programs and coordinate activities across the functions and programs.
  • Program Planning and Execution: Lead the development and execution of integrated program plans, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, timelines and budget constraints. Implement consistent best practices across programs, including program team structure, meeting management, team communications, decision tracking, information management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor one or more program managers and establish standards for program management across the organization.
  • Risk Management and Creative Problem-Solving: Identify and mitigate risks associated with global program delivery, proactively addressing challenges.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards and implement appropriate project management best practices across the programs.
  • Budget Management: Collaborate with the finance team and the functional leads to develop and manage program budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial oversight.
  • Portfolio Prioritization, Resource Planning and Allocation: Maintain a portfolio level view of priorities, activities and resource allocation. Work with functional leads to develop a resource plan and to optimize resource allocation across programs, balancing priorities and ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Strategic Communication: Effectively communicate regular program updates and milestones to internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position requires technical and strategic leadership skills and the ability to direct, coach, and evaluate the performance of one or more Program Managers.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in a relevant scientific or professional discipline with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading global program management within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on oncology.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex oncology development programs from early-stage through commercialization.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with alliances and cross-company collaborations is a plus.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional organizational skills, ability to prioritize, multitask and problem solve.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal, including presentation skills).
  • Ability to apply project management best practices to programs, including change management strategies.
  • Ability to organize a portfolio level view of programs and priorities, including scenario planning, identifying key read-outs and decision points and estimating timelines, probability of success and market size.
  • Strong understanding of global regulatory requirements and drug development processes.
  • Experience and practical knowledge of project planning tools such as MS Project and ability to analyze and communicate timelines and dependencies.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and collaboration tools (SharePoint, Teams, OneNote).
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, a flexible, collaborative, and team-oriented approach to problem solving, and an ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

Other Information:

NiKang currently anticipates the annual base salary range for this Vice President-level role is estimated to be from $250,000 to $280,000. Our job titles span more than one career level. The actual title for this role and final salary amount offered to a successful candidate may be higher or lower than the estimated range and will depend on several factors that include, but are not limited to, the geographic location of the candidate, the type and length of applicable experience, education, and other relevant factors. In addition to base salary, the hired applicant for this position will be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus and potential equity awards based on factors such as individual and organizational performance.
